when they were tiny

Wednesday, February 5th, 2014

I never shared an image of this special storybook canvas I created for my two oldest daughters when they were tiny (back in 2008). A friend invited me over to her parent’s backyard to photograph their waterlilies and the design took shape in my imagination from there. This image has many, many layers all photographed by me and combined artistically in photoshop. I printed it as a 24″x30″ canvas which has been enjoyed ever since. The canvas has many details hidden in the design–one of my favorite features!

Oh Sweet Sadie, Art & Gift Show

Thursday, September 18th, 2008

Alive = check.
Busy = check.
Healthy = check, except for a pesky cold.
Productive = check, well somewhat, and not so much at this time of day!!
Excited = check.

So what is the big deal? Why the lack of posts you may ask? We’ve got so much going on at studiocharm right now it is enough to just shout it from the hill tops. I’ll be doing just that tomorrow (shouting from the Utah County side of Suncrest), at our booth at the Oh Sweet Sadie, Art & Gift Show. Today I was so flattered to be given a terrific shout out on their website . . . it actually gave me butterflies to see my “name in lights” if you will! If you leave a comment there you can win a great prize sponsored by us!!

Better yet, here’s an official invitation to come and visit our booth, see some of our storybook canvases in person, and enter your name in a drawing for a FREE family photo session!!

Additionally, each client who books a fall photo session at the show will receive a voucher for a $50 print credit!!

Hope we see you there! (You can find us in the basement the lovely 6,500 sq. ft. home– around a corner somewhere!)

Red Riding Hood Storybook Canvas Design

Friday, July 18th, 2008
Here’s another something I am so anxious to see on canvas. I can’t guarantee that this design is 100% finished . . . we’ll see what happens before now and when I send it to print. :)

{S. starring as “Little Red” and the wolf is played by a wolf-like dog I saw at the park yesterday. I tell you, I am always watching out for these kind of things!}

Open for opinions here– is this “too scary” for a child’s canvas? Do you think it would induce nightmares or engender imagination and creativity? DH says he thinks it is a bit dark. Considering the wolf is really a wolf-like dog, does that make it less scary?

More storybook canvases on the way . . . I am having too much fun with these!!

At It Again . . .

Thursday, July 17th, 2008

I hope to be at it again . . . this blog has become severely neglected and I can’t even believe it has been THREE weeks since I last updated it!!

On my to-do list:

1. I’ve got 6 sessions to blog (a few sessions to proof)
2. Tons of fun family photos that I would just love to share
3. A studio location in the works!!
4. A website revision-serious changes coming!!

Needless to say, life has been busy!

I am so excited to post another storybook canvas!! Here’s the mock-up version:

{The Dazzling Miss C . . . isn’t she radiant atop her pink gerbera daisy?}

This is an example of collaboration with another photographer. My great friend and talented photographer Britt Poppinga captured the original image, then sent the high res. photo to me so that I could create the artwork. I think our efforts paid off– I am so excited to see the canvas when it arrives!

When I see the light of day I will hit it hard with posts . . . I hope you’ll come back and see them!!

Red Riding Hood

{My Little Red Riding Hood}

This shoot has been in the making for a long time. I had to reinvent my limited (and rusty) sewing skills to make the cloak and apron. I also had to convince S. that being this character was a good thing, and I think she got into it once we went on the shoot. This image is a contender for another storybook canvas, hopefully to be created very soon!

Today and tomorrow one of my canvases is on display at the Lehi Roundup Boutique.
The boutique is set up like a carnival and there are yummy treats and great little booths to find some fun treasures. Check it out!!
