Cheerio Popsicle Recipe

Sunday, August 24th, 2008

My creative children often surprise me by leaving culinary (experiments) creations in the freezer. One day I was getting some homemade popsicles out for the kids and I came across a unique concoction of cheerios and ice carefully disguised as a popsicle. I questioned the kids as to how it got there, and my sweet A. quickly claimed it as her own and proceeded to eat it.

So proud of her cheerio pop- A’s recipe: simply fill popsicle container 1/3 of the way with cheerios. Add water from the refrigerator dispenser and cheerios will float to the top. Insert handle and freeze until set. Enjoy. You may want to make more than one in case your family wants to sample one. I personally wouldn’t take one bite~ though the frozen cheerios probably taste better than soggy cheerios! Perhaps you could try filling up the holder with milk instead of water and enjoy breakfast on a stick in the morning!!

With Child- A Super Maternity Session!

Tuesday, August 19th, 2008

Such a fun shoot to be part of– and now this couple has one more person anxiously awaiting the arrival of their firstborn in the next few weeks! This couple has great chemistry and was so relaxed about the shoot . . . I picture them being the same way when their baby arrives. These pictures open up a whole door of possibilities for me . . . I sure hope to do more maternity shoots in the future.

{it’s going to be hard to choose my favorite out of this bunch, can you see why?}

{this one is kind of sultry and called for a little vintage action!}

{gorgeous mama-to-be}

{this family image summarizes what I had hoped to accomplish with the shoot- their connection is so beautiful . . . they’re so beautiful! I love it!}

{Thanks J&J– can’t wait to meet your new baby!}

Fabulous Wedding ( as previously mentioned)

Saturday, August 16th, 2008

SOOOO excited to post some pictures of last week’s wedding of darling J. & L. . . this will have to be two posts, as I have so many images I want to share! Here are some of my favorite images from their eventful and memorable wedding day!

{Isn’t this couple simply radiant?!?}

Congratulations to the two of you! It was a blast to photograph your wedding day . . . I can’t wait to share more pictures of your awesome reception too– next installation will be forthcoming in a couple of days. I am so glad you trusted me to be your wedding photographer. You make a beautiful match!

Thanks to the amazingly talented Britt Poppinga who was my stellar second shooter. . . you were terrific!

Hello There Blog . . .

Thursday, August 14th, 2008

Just checking in, seeing as I have devoted such a measly amount of attention to my blog family as of late. Life has certainly been busy and I can hardly believe that our summer days are dwindling!

Recent projects include:

Photo shoots and then some more shoots
Big changes to Studiocharm
Studio construction–drywall, framing and new steps this week
Completion of a mural project (yes, I still paint once in a while)
Watching the Olympics!! Go USA :)
School shopping with the kiddos- back to school already?
A fabulous wedding I photographed last Saturday– will be posting pictures soon!
A last-minute campout with the family also last Saturday
Two HUGE (7’x5′) faux stained glass windows nearing completion
Working on keeping the dirty dishes at bay
Marketing plans for upcoming expo and boutiques- Sept. & Oct.
Discovering dino bones at Thanksgiving Point (see photo)
Desperately wanting to find time to update the website and this rusty old blog.
Watching my kiddos closely so that they don’t grow up too fast. I think it is already happening!
Smoochin’ the DH- can’t resist this one! 😉
Reception to photograph tomorrow night in Provo Canyon
RS responsibilities (trying to keep my church commitments a priority- I am currently serving in the Relief Society)
and last but not least, burning the midnight oil.

Q: I’ve been asked from time to time, “How do you do it all?”
A: “I don’t . . . I just do a little of a lot of things. I struggle to keep a balance and know that I will be working at that for the rest of my life.”

A quote from my 6 year old S. while completely enamored with Presto the Magician at a magic show we attended last week: “He’s magic alright!!” She was in awe of his awesome skills, and I admit being impressed too. I wish I had a bit of his magic powers. One of the first things I’d do with said powers is tackle that ever expanding laundry mountain!

{Having a little fun along the way while trying to keep my sweet little ones safe from the giant brontosaurus feet! M. has the most awesome sound effects of a dinosaur growl. He melts my heart.}

Elephants and such

Friday, August 1st, 2008

Something that just arrived this week that I can’t wait to display on the wall in M’s room:

{a series of three 12×12 photos with a canvas texture and mounted on a stiff sintra board}

The elephant is a favorite little toy- M’s room is decorated with elephants in a chocolate brown and green color scheme. This image is a digital “TTV” or “through the viewfinder” image. True TTV images are created with two cameras, one shooting through the other camera’s viewfinder to capture an uneven edge and dusty, grungy look. I still haven’t figured out how I am going to hang these- to frame or not to frame?

Utah Family Today- watch for us!!

Thursday, July 31st, 2008

A new magazine is set to debut in the next day or two around these parts: Utah Family Today.
If you pick up a free copy at any major stores- look for studiocharm somewhere in there!! The magazine is a family friendly guide to the best that Utah County has to offer. You should see our storybook canvases in there- and on the website we’re close to publishing some BIG changes. (Info on our studio space in the works, etc).

The first person who can tell me what page we’re on will qualify for a $50 credit towards a regular priced photo session!! WAHOO. I love PRIZES. :) One guess per person. Please post your answer here in the comments section.

Adventures With a Family of 6

Thursday, July 31st, 2008

This shoot was a blast– when I saw the family pull up, I was truly giddy with excitement. They looked great and their darling daughters arrived ready for a fun family session with a side order of fashion photography. Their clothing choices were fun, spunky yet conservative and worked out great with our rustic location. I have to admit being hung up on this one–it was so hard to not post the whole bunch here– so I’ll just save some surprises for later!! Enjoy~

{my favorite wall in the entire planet! 😉 }

{she makes my job easy– natural beauty, I tell you!}

{blue eyes & beautiful smile . . . she’s stunning!}

{she has an awesome laugh and the most darling dimples!!}

{baby sis was so sweet and fun I had to post an extra for her!}

{a little urban texture action here– so FUN!}

{gorgeous mom with the most sparkly eyes ever!!}

{dad couldn’t escape the fun–I really like the GQ look here juxtaposed to the old shed door.}

{the girls with my “aged pecan” processing in adobe lightroom. This could also be an advertisement for studiocharm steaks, but many of you know that I’m a vegetarian, so they’d likely be tofu steaks and not very tasty. SO no steaks as part of your photo session, sorry folks!}

{I literally got goosebumps on my arms when I snapped this family shot in front of the red wall–even before I had seen the results. Something just “clicked” and it felt like an authentic moment was captured and preserved for this family. This is the high that photographers get once in a while–WAHOO!!}

{Last shot of the shoot- COWABUNGA! We all got a good laugh looking at the facial expressions on my viewfinder}.
Thanks H fam for such an adventurous, non-stressful shoot!! I am so excited to present your images to you!!

Red Riding Hood Storybook Canvas Design

Friday, July 18th, 2008
Here’s another something I am so anxious to see on canvas. I can’t guarantee that this design is 100% finished . . . we’ll see what happens before now and when I send it to print. :)

{S. starring as “Little Red” and the wolf is played by a wolf-like dog I saw at the park yesterday. I tell you, I am always watching out for these kind of things!}

Open for opinions here– is this “too scary” for a child’s canvas? Do you think it would induce nightmares or engender imagination and creativity? DH says he thinks it is a bit dark. Considering the wolf is really a wolf-like dog, does that make it less scary?

More storybook canvases on the way . . . I am having too much fun with these!!
