Two climbing, cruising feet.
Two busy hands.
One momma’s boy.
One sweetheart.
One year.

{Happy Birthday, Little Bud}

We enjoyed celebrating M’s birthday this week. I have been as busy as ever~ hence the lack of posts as of late. I have a goal to reach 100 posts by the end of the year. This means some serious blogging ahead, but I promise to try and make it worthwhile too!

My Blue Eyed, Blue Armed Girl

Saturday, November 10th, 2007

Here’s the story in a nutshell. My two girls were acting scrappy so I sent them to their shared room for a little quite time on their bunkbeds. All was peaceful and quiet for a while. Mothers know this is usually a sign of trouble.

Just then my oldest DD yells out, “Mom! A. has BLUE on almost her whole body!”
I jump up and run upstairs to their room. Sweet A. was sitting quietly on her bed as instructed, with a blue crayola marker and apparently not enough paper to scribble on. She did this instead:

As you can see, she is devastated at the consequence of coloring her body smurf-blue. Unfortunately, she doesn’t even know what smurfs are . . . so I couldn’t even use that one.

I was faced with a dilemma. Do I scold? Laugh? Cry? Get the camera? I got the camera . . . and told her we needed to take a picture to show her dad what she had done (trying to be stern, but holding in my laughter).

She was striking the poses, I tell you. Admiring her artistic creation. Amazingly enough, she didn’t get ANY marker on her bedding. I don’t know how, as you can see she was pretty thorough with this. She is also a lefty, as you can see her right arm was the more “artistically rendered” one.

Enough admiring. Off to the bath. As she smiled while the blue water filled the tub, I told her, “You’re going to be blue for a really long time.”

“Oh.” She casually replied.

Big sister added, “That’s not going to look very good at church!” (Always thinking ahead!)

Eventually the blue did come off and my darling A. emerged from her brief smurfdom.

The moral of the story: Beware the quiet child, as she is more likely to get into mischief.

What Season Is This?

Tuesday, October 23rd, 2007

For those of you who live in Utah, you know that we cycle through seasons quickly. For instance, one day is summer, the next winter, and the next autumn (in that order). Here’s are first dose of winter . . . and the kids could hardly contain themselves. It was all gone by the afternoon and we still have some green leaves on trees. Utah.

{mush! mush!}

One For the Money . . .

. . . two for the show, three to get ready and four TO GO!
I can’t help thinking of that when I see this photo!
{Don’t you love the expression on this little guy’s face?}
Here are more fun picures from the P. family session. Enjoy the show!

{What a great family!!}

Autumn Shoot

Saturday, October 13th, 2007

A fun autumn shoot from the past week- a beautiful family, beautiful home, beautiful season. I am so excited for this family to see the results from our shoot. I promised the mom that despite the efforts of her sweet {and precocious} 2 year-old to avoid the family photo shoot all together, we’d have some really fun shots. There are plenty, starting with . . .

{You may recognize this mother-baby duo from his March newborn session.

Check out their pictures here: Sweet Three Weeks

{…and see you latyer! I ‘ll end on this note, though I’d love to post more from this session!}

Harvest Fresh

Saturday, October 13th, 2007

A collection of my favorite fall pictures- makes me want to grab a mug of hot cocoa and some fuzzy warm socks. I am loving fall- though it does make for a bit of a challenge when it comes to unpredictable weather and scheduling photo shoots!

{A’s reaction to her first try at cotton candy: “I think I will save this for later.” After I convinced her it wasn’t sweet dryer lint, she ate it up and requested more.}

{M- king of all shuffleboard for tots. Lovin’ the scarecrow festival!}

{I think I would like to start a collection of photographs of cool doors, door knobs, locks, etc. Perhaps I’ll start with this one . . .}

{Backgrounds & brushes coming soon to a digiscrap studio near you}.

Leaf photo from earlier today– I love autumn! Photo with M. is about 6 weeks ago, but I love it nonetheless. John Lennon’s song, Imagine is the ringtone on my cell phone.

Canvas Love

Tuesday, October 2nd, 2007

So I am loving my new canvas collage! It is 36″x24″ with a museum gallery wrap (the edges are 1.5″ thick and wrap around, so there is no need for a frame). It took all of 20 seconds to hang. You may recall from a previous post that I had this planned and now it is a real project that I can sit and admire. It hangs above our table in the dining room, and the kids spend their time at breakfast selecting their current “favorite” photo.

{yes, my paint does seem to be two different colors here. That is the same IRL, as the lighting is warmer in one room. —just in case you noticed too—}

{We measure our children by how tall they are compared to our artwork. 😉 }

SO DO YOU WANT A CANVAS or WHAT?

If you are a photo session client, your photos are also available on canvas and even as a collage. They make great gifts too! {Hint! Hint!}. Pricing is available via email or in person. There are many, many sizes available and you also save $$ on not needing a frame (especially on custom sizes).

Meet the H Fam

Tuesday, October 2nd, 2007

Here’s a preview of this great family session. The weather was perfect, the fall colors are just turning and the subjects did great. I think we all had a great time! Upon arrival, we were a bit dissappointed that the waterfall was “shut off” . . . until we realized it made for a great backdrop. Enjoy!

{I had a little fun with this one and some texture overlays. I think the six pair of sunglasses set the tone for this one!}

{A day away from —->15 & keeping the girls at bay!}

{I love M’s beautiful eyes yellow leaf in this photo!}

{Beautiful “tween” . . . her windswept hair is great!}

{Baby sis. in a REALLY COOL photo where the bubble just froze right in front of her eye. I wish I could say my reflexes were as fast as my shutter. This was a spontaneous occurance that I am quite proud of!}

{Isn’t she darling?}

{C- is for cutie pie!}

{and . . . ta da! . . . the whole family. I love this shot!}

My LBFF

Sunday, September 2nd, 2007

The son keeps us on our toes these days. He is a stair-climber, potting-soil digger, unidentifiable crumb tast-tester, emotion detector, and true sweetheart. It has been said of M. that I am his “BFF” (ie. “Best Friend Forever”). I can attest to this, and I will be the first to admit, I do make a great friend. I keep this boy safe, fed, clothed and loved, and that is HARD WORK!

{This is M’s “I’m drooling, I’m teething. See my two-teeth grin, with eyes bluer than blue” look}

{This is M’s “laugh-out-loud, how can you resist me mom, I’m a sweetheart” look}

{This is his “catch me while you can, don’t you love my beautiful lashes” look}

Love you, my little best friend forever.
